Live in Boston, October to December
Fifteen campuses. One live scoreboard. Every night, a show.
Chatter is where communities meet live: rooms you walk straight into, groups that keep going after, and the moments worth replaying. This fall we are doing it with Boston. Students compete as teams, every night has a format worth turning up for, and the whole thing runs live in the app.
Fifteen seconds of it
The board moves all night
Points for the people in your rooms, the friends you bring who stay, the show you put on and the clips that leave the app. Everything doubles at Cup Hour, nine to ten.
This is what a rocket looks like when it lands
Build a rocket in the garage, put your own face on the coins, send it at somebody in a live room and watch it land on them. Your people can send one at you while you host. Half of every rocket sent in your room is yours.
That is the energy the cups run on: rooms that react, shows worth clipping, and a board that moves while you watch it.
Launch Night
Monday 19 October, 8pm
Captains on stage, the board goes live at 8:35, and the first rooms open at nine. Everything after that is a fight for the top of it.
Three cups, one season
The Comm Ave Cup
Boston University students, in teams. Eleven nights, a room every night, Cup Hour at nine, and a costume final on the 29th.
The Boston Cup
The city on one board: Northeastern, Boston College, Suffolk, Emerson, UMass Boston, Comm Ave, and an open division for every other campus.
Finals Season
Study rooms with a timer, a show at ten, late night breakfast before your first exam, and Last Exam Night on the 13th.
How it works
Enter as a team
Ten friends and a captain is enough to get on the board, and there is no ceiling: bring your whole chapter, your whole club, all three hundred of them. Your division is set by your roster on the day entries close: Squads 10 to 29, Crews 30 to 79, Houses 80 and up. You get one link for the team, and every friend who joins through it is counted for you.
Play every night
Hold a room, fill it, run the night's format, bring people in, clip the best of it. Streaks pay, Cup Hour doubles, and the board is live the whole time.
Win as a team
The champion's prize goes to the winning team, plus a title in your own size division, Best Event, Best Turnout, Top Recruiter and Clip of the Cup. A big roster does not win on its own: most points come from the people you bring in and the show you put on.
Entries are open now and they are free. If your team already has a Chatter group, its link is your team link and it counts from the day you enter. Divisions are confirmed on Friday 2 October, and entries for the Comm Ave Cup close on Friday 16 October. Chatter runs the Boston Season; it is not affiliated with, sponsored by or endorsed by any university, and no university marks are used. Teams enter as groups of students and prizes are paid to the team captain. The official rules are the full version.
